Was pleasingly surprised to find the Sears at Eaton Centre in Toronto actually featuring many world-class designers and even Tommy Bahama. Very attractive place and the former Eaton's. I didn't even think to search for areas Sears is so noted for as its own niche, such as hardware; I'll assume one has to go elsewhere, like perhaps all the other Sears' around Toronto and their specialized hardware outlets.
Where are there other Sears' like this? I'd say it looked a lot like our Cleveland Nordstrom's, though one dept. I went to was shoes and I didn't find this particular Sears area that inspiring. But again - many departments with the "big name" designers, etc. It was no Holt Renfrew but then few are.
So it happens just at the moment we were in Toronto they announce in the media about the great Brooks Brothers coming to Canada and Toronto later this year. I'm guessing if they open only one now it will be either in the financial district around King or Wellington and York or Bay, or around Bloor Street West. Sort of a toss-up. Perhaps both? Quite amazing it's taken that long; I don't believe there's all that tremendous competition to Brooks Brothers there - not considering all its facets.
