Why do girls dress like this?

This is sort of the female equivalent of ripped/faded Abercrombie jeans and a skin tight Hollister shirt. I imagine the tops were purchased at Forever 21.

...probably for the same reason most guys wear tees, cargo shorts, and flip flops, or some vaiation thereupon.

Same reason guys do.
1. Lots of other girls do it.
2. Positive reinforcement (real or lies)

And.
1. Socially acceptable way to hide the beer gut silhouette
2. Skimpy without being considered "Skanky." Girls these days have this fascinating delusion that one part of their clothing can be skin tight so long as the rest is baggy. See: Baby doll shirts, gauchos.

It reminds me of this article that Peter York wrote on midriff-baring females: http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion...nt-586302.html These are the kinds of whale-shaped, overly made-up individuals who despite their appalling lack of style still shop until their credit cards burst in an orgy of cheap pumps and entry-level designer handbags.

I don't know, but aside from the one in the middle, they've got problems any way you look at it.

You have no idea what a buttoned-up WASP look does to my libido.

I knew WASPs in college. They dressed more like the first set of girls than June Cleaver.

Unfortunately the WASPs I know tend to dress that way too. However, I do know a handful who wear a lot of Brooks Bros./Lilly Pulitzer/Polo RL. Turns me on.
