White Bow Tie with DJ

Folks,

I have this burning question. I'm thinking about wearing black DJ for my wedding, what color of bow tie should I wear? I was thinking about wearing the white with white waistcoat, but I heard that that would be considered a solecism. I don't know why, but in my mind, the groom should wear something white..

I couldn't see myself wearing one of those collored bow ties. please help...

I appreciate the response. Although I slightly disagree with breaking the rule thing, aren't rules meant to be broken? especially in fashion.

Anyways, I see your point and will wear black tie instead. Although I'm having problem in trying to differentiate myself from the my boys... They will be wearing one button DJ with pleated, turndown collars shirt. Black bow tie and black cummerbund.

What do you think I should do to differentiate myself and to make it even more formal than them..

Not clear why there is a need to differentiate. If people you invite to your wedding do not know that you are the groom, that sounds like a serious problem with your invitation list.

Perhaps the least tacky way of donning something different is having a different colored boutonniÃ¨re.

Rules were made to be broken, but you can't make broken rules.

I'm getting married soon too, and will be wearing a DJ for the occasion. And heck, I'll probably go for the white bow tie, just to be different.

I think the best way to differentiate yourself as the groom, is to marry the bride at some point during the ceremony.

Fashion changes from season to season, style is timeless. Some things are fashionable but not stylish, some are stylish but not fashionable, and occasionally (almost rarely) they are both.

A dinner jacket is stylish, not fashionable. There have been many people trying to make fashion statements with dinner jackets, and failing miserably. Attempting to push fashion onto classic styling results in a complete lack of style and class made prominent by your obvious attempt but equally obvious failing to achieve your goal.

If you want to wear a white tie, dive in the deep end and dress in white tie:
