Any ideas on what to use to remove the permanent ink of the name tag? Amodex maybe?

Nice coat - I'd just carefully cut the tag off right up against the seam and call it good. No sense bringing acetone and stuff near a nice looking coat.

I went to the Grenson factory shop in Rushden, and found amongst the sample boxes (mostly size 8F) the pair shown... In fact I found a second pair and bought both. £45 each; £5 off for buying two. They are from the second-tier range.

they are indeed far from dissimilar- the only thing I am not sure about is the 'micro rubber sole'

Found a heavy knit 100% cashmere Malo cardigan sweater. Excellent condition, except for holes in the elbows. Can most any tailor add suede patches over the holes, or do knits require specialists? It was probably a $1200+ sweater so even if the repair is $50 or $100 it's worth it.

I came across this great safari shirt-jacket today from the 'real' Banana Republic. It ought to scratch my safari jacket itch:

Wow that's a neat find, Alan. I'm guessing vintage '90 or '91?

That is great - same tag as my Indiana Jones style shirt that I bought back at the "real" Banana Republic in about '87.

Those stores were cool - what with the jungle motif, jeeps and all!

I almost always never pay full retail. Only 1-2% of my purchases are the ones that I pay the tag price.

Here's a bit of serendipity. My Marshall's received a bunch of the Lorenzini gingham shirts that got dumped not long ago. Unfortunately, they received none in my size, the elusive 15. So I've been watching the shirts as time passes, just in case they get marked way, way down. So far, they're down to about $40, with a few marked to $30. (You can imagine my frustration that my size is not among the piles cluttering the discount bin.) I must have looked through the stacks a dozen times, but tonight I thought I'd do one more pass. What should appear? A size 15. And the price? $7. By far the cheapest of the entire lot. What a pleasant surprise!

Jeepers, at that price I'd like to jump on the wagon. Put me on the size 16 list aswell.
