An excellent point.

I won't be wearing any today, and given I'll have wool flannel trousers on, I expect some virtual blank stares if I get around to posting today's ensemble in WAYWRN.

Let me get that started for you

Not to get all John Ellis on you, but what weight flannel and what shoes? There's a fine line between California and homeless on this, and all the burnished calf in the world won't save you.

Hah! You'll see later. Now I have to post pics.

There's nothing Cali about it...pure New England.

There will be some interesting sidebars to the post as well, since the jacket will be from a maker that is not seen very often here.

I've been wearing those Nagrani's you've been selling. For something thinner, Pantherellas or believe it or not, jhane Barnes sells pretty good sock.

I've also been wearing the Nagrani socks. Pantherella and Marcoliani make great light weight wools and cottons, but $30 for a pair of socks is steep. I try to buy basic Pantherella cottons at STP when there's a sale. Sometimes STP has other good brands as well.

This is like stepping back in time and running into myself.

Yeah, I think Pantherella cotton can be pretty nice for summer, but the elastic is not great--a place where Nagrani shines, although they are a little thicker, so not best for the hottest days. The Richard James socks are nice for summer, too. Great colors.

I'd wear all those pieces except the tie, jacket, shoes and pocket square.

I wear cotton and wool blend socks in shades of brown and grey, with the occasional navy thrown in, 365 days a year. No patterns, no loud colors, and nothing that is see through.

These shoes would have killed:

and mack sold you a great sportcoat. I was just too slight for it, but I knew it was going to look awesome.

As to the socks - I think sockless is a great next-best option. What matches light gray better than springtime white-boy ankles? I have light gray Polo made in Japan that would probably work too.

Well, here's the thing: there are fake penny loafers and there are real ones. The fake ones are always more sophisticated, but unless they are made as mocs, they are still fake.

I have the Polo Marlow/Darlton pennies in C&J's brown shell, and I would say they are the best fake pennies there are.

You callin' me out as an SF whore? If so: guilty on this count.
