I'm a true 12 B and I tried on a 11.5 and it seemed to fit okay. I don't think I could go down a whole size. I was also wearing really thin dress socks. I'm guessing with a thicker sock it would have been okay. The heel was slipping some. God I hate having a narrow foot.

I am now more confused than ever on sizing. Let me just make the confusion clear, when it comes to chucks I fit in a size 10 but in Allen Edmonds I fit in a size 8E. Now some people are saying to go a half size down with AE in which I should get a size 7.5. On the other hand, some say to go half a size down with chucks which would lead me to believe I should get a 9.5.

I am now real confused, what size should I get? Can anyone clear the sizing up a bit?

you wear a 10 in Chucks and 8 in AE?? that's bizarre and no wonder you're confused. I wear the same size in both (and I'm betting nearly everyone else does too), and hence a half size down in Red Wing GT

put it this way, I would get whatever UK size your PS 'ricard' boots are and add ½ to it for Red Wings. If that's not avail, you could probably just go with the UK Ricard size in American Red Wing size, tho YMMV.

The discrepancy is very confusing. Thanks for the help GetSmart. If I go by the Ricard's UK sizing, that mean I should go with a 7? That seems real small, then again I am a size 7 in my other Paul Smith boots.

I guess the best way to get it from a website like Zappos where return is free and hassle free.

I'm still curious how I can fit in a size 10 in chucks while I fit in a size 8E in AE's though? I know I have a wide feet but a size 10 in chucks fits perfect, width and length-wise. The same thing with the AE's 8E. It is definitely a head-scratcher and if anybody can give an explanation, I would appreciate it. Sorry if it seems like I am thread jacking.

just drop the chucks reference. Go into some shoe stores and try on some american dress shoes or better yet, let the mall dude measure your foot. get the red wings in a size 1/2 smaller than your measurment.

Last time I visited Footlocker (about a year ago) I was measured and was sizedin the middle 9.5-10. You would suggest I get a 9 then?

This is still going on? Try a 9 if it doesn't fit quite right you'll know to go a 1/2 size down or up from there and exchanges should be free depending on where you buy. You don't seem to know your size, experiences will help you with that. They seem like they should fit, use this to help gauge future sizing.

You sure you did not mistakenly use Chucks' women sizing? I'm being entirely (well, 90%) serious.

It just doesn't make any sense otherwise.

Also, footlocker sizing thing is wack.

I doubt it, because I'm usually a size 9.5-10 in Jack Purcell's, Nike Dunks and Air Jordans. I always found it weird that I have to go 2-3 sizes down when getting Ferragamo's, AE's and Paul Smith's, when stores usually recommend going only a size down most of the time.

Aren't Allen Edmonds' an American Dress shoes?

I am also in between 9.5 and 10. I tried 9.5 in these boots but it was just too roomy and the heels slipped. I exchanged for a 9 and the fit is perfect - no heel slippage at all. There is just enough room in the toe box still that I think I could have tried an 8.5 but the current size feels so good that I decided to stick with it.

I highly recommend these boots - comfy as hell when the leather breaks in and the black cherry is amazing.

Goddammit it doesn't get any easier trying on a pair of shoes than with zappo's free shipping/returns. Just take your best guess and try it on instead of endlessly agonizing over it, you wilted cabbage.

Can you explain what else is needed besides the LP, if anything? Their website is pretty confusing to me. Do I need multiple products (clean, condition, protect)? Edit: I guess I'll get one of the combination kits (small) and a bottle of the cleaner.
