Is there a proper way to do this? I want that GQ look while walking the streets of my city.

Undo button, and just roll.

Too much thought into it and it turns into theatrics, not good.

What's the proper procedure for unrolling the sleeve once the rolled state is no longer needed?

Good question!

Can we get another five star thread out of it?

Tasso Elba shirts are supposed to roll their own sleeves up- that's how awesome they are.

Actually, this isn't a bad question, and now that it is three years later with different people around (some at least) it is worth revisiting. Those of us who don't wear coats often to work and who want to wear shirts that are not polos find that rolling up the sleeves is often useful, particularly in the hotter parts of the country. For me, short sleeve OCBD's are not appealing (unless they are short and not tucked in and worn casually around the BBQ grill or bar etc.), and polo shirts I find kind of boring (unless on the golf course where they are de rigeur, with popped collar of course), then wearing a long sleeve OCBD is the best choice and as the day heats up, or say after work, the sleeves get rolled.

This style (xposted from S&D) is similar to what Kent described in that thread (the three fold roll):

Here is a different take from the S&D thread (hope you don't mind me reposting this):

There is an Esquire mag. (yeah I know who cares) commentary on this topic in the March '08 issue (p. 128 for those following along at home), and their take was just above the elbow is the 'correct' position.

Perhaps some others from MC could post photos on this topic.

I'm always afraid that after I roll my sleeves up, they'll be incredibly wrinkly and I won't be albe to wear it unrolled for the rest of the day. Any suggestions?

Flip the cuff back on the sleeve and roll once. That is how a sleeve is 'rolled' up. This roll will still allow you to unroll the sleeve with no wrinkles.

If you need them higher for the heat, then keep rolling at cuff-width until they are above the bend in the elbow. This roll will wrinkle the sleeve because it's tighter.

To me (and me only) anything else just looks sloppy.

The half-roll or forearm roll:

You'll note that with this roll that patterns will usually self-align.
