That is essentially the premise of the thread, yes.

As an exercise in making people more conscious, creative writers, this makes sense. As an actual stylistic rule, it strikes me as insanity.

He had a position on everything. I actually considered dropping his class the first day, but I soldiered on anyway. At the end of the semester, he told me I had 'the gift.' So that was nice.

I think I noticed the difference when we had to edit our classmates papers. You read a thesis and it has 'is' and 'are' every third word, you start to get his point.

I can help you leverage that anger to exploit new symetries and take advantage of the new paradigm in emerging markets with solutions that benefit the rising consumer class.

As a student whose areas of focus are on sustainable lifestyles, urban development, and environmentally-friendly design, I refuse to use the word 'green', in person or in writing. I am going on almost two years now. Yes, it annoys me.

One of the advertising agencies I used to work at insisted on putting these kinds of thigs in their presentations. I always felt it was a sign of someone who doesn't know what he's talking about - if you can't convince them, confuse them. Endless charts that mean nothing are another. Some of my favourites: 360 Brand Activation Holistic Approach Web 2.0 (even a simple microsite was "Web 2.0") Through The Line This is fun: http://www.dack.com/web/bullshit.html

BTW a lot of the terms mentioned like paradigm, globalization and synergies are perfectly serviceable when used in an appropriate way, I guess this applies to the less tendentious ones I listed.
