Definitely buy one -- I really enjoyed this example. Nectar D'Or is Glen's newest incarnation of the finish. They make Sauternes finished whiskys in several expressions. It is probably exactly as you would expect. There are three Sauternes finished Scotches that I know of: The Glenmorangie, an Edradour, and, oh, the last is escaping me at present. ~H

I belive the traditional Chimay (and other Trappist ales) glass is actually a chalice:

Large tulips also work well for Belgian Strong ales, though you get more foam that you have to work through to get to the tasty liquid goodness below.

The glass you used above is prescribed with some lambics and would also work well with sparkling wines.

I've had a long night, so am having a nice Ommegang. Later on this afternoon it'll be an IPA (specifically the Lancaster Brewing Company's IPA, Hop Hog), and as a nightcapper I'll be having a Duvel.

Sipping some Canadian Club Sherry Cask aged while watching Season 2 of "The Wire". Excellent match IMO.

Thinking of an old friend and drinking Sidecars. I make them with a tenth measure of orange juice as well as lemon.

Made 'Blushing Roses' for my guests earlier:

1 oz good cherry eau de vie.
2 oz Lillet Blonde
1 spoon of Chambord.
3 drops Grenadine (skip it if your says FD&C anywhere on the label)

Stir 30 sec. Serve with a Fabbri cherry.

I'm really upset at myself for being so lazy today. No wine for me tonight.

Tried the Nectar. This is easily the smoothest Scotch I have ever had. It might lack in some of the strong, brash aspects of some Scotches, but for something to sip on a warm night, this is the malt!

Cheers

Unibroue Édition 2005.

I feel like bragging a bit: I just moved last week and last night was the first time I went into a small dÃ

panneur down the street. They had a full rack of the Édition 2005 (pretty much impossible to find now) in the fridge and for some reason they were marked down to 2.99$ (!). I'm guessing the owner thought they were too old or something, but these should probably age well for at least 5 years. I picked up 6 bottles for my cellar and cracked one open and it was great. I tried it when fresh and it was a bit on the harsh side IIRC but it seems to have improved a lot with age.

I was at an open bar earlier tonight at a wedding reception. I don't enjoy getting drunk really, so I try to hit my buzz limit and just stick there. Anyway, since it was an open bar and I wasn't paying, I took the chance to sample some of the scotches that have been mentioned in these and other posts. MMMMMM! Scotch is yummy! Ron Burgundy was right.

It is a fairly elegant affair, isn't it? I like to say there's a scotch for every mood, and that one certainly gets me closer to believing it. Glad it is bringing you some pleasure. When I bought mine, it was the last (and I think only) one they had also. I had to choose between it and a '78 Dufftown. Hemmed and hawwed for ten minutes. Bought both. Glad. ~ Huntsman
