These are a pair of Massaros, which to my knowledge has never been seen on the forums, or the Japanese Appreciation sites either. They are a low-vamp tassel loafer made in a very fine calfskin. The details are quite nicely done.

The rubber sole is a bit of a slap into the face.

These are too large for me, but I bought them for the sakes that they were Massaro. Either way, they look like they were not worn much given the lack of wrinkling or wear.

It probably kept them preserved enough so LK could buy them and still wear them.

The rubber sole looks new. So, it was just an act of destruction.

LK, do you have any idea how the women's shoes are constructed? Are they somehow welted, or just glued?

I note that in the video, there appears to be a large display of men's shoes, which I find interesting.

I've no idea, but I'm not very familiar with the construction of women's shoes. I would imagine they would be welted given that they usually manufacture for the couture houses. Massaro was also responsible for the famous Chanel two-toned pump.

I also noticed that these shoes have an interesting sock liner. It is one entire piece that runs the whole length of the shoe.

Usually the high-heeled fashion variety of women's shoes are cemented (glued).

Traditional shoemakers produce men's shoes, If they make women's shoes at all, they tend to be smaller versions of men's shoes,
Those are, of course, produced in the traditional technique and welted.

A third style are those classic queen-mumsy court pumps:
http://www.johnlobbltd.co.uk/catalog...shoesthumb.htm

There is a technique called "˜blind welting', which can produce thin, narrow soles without visible welts. The soles are not "˜stitched'
but "˜sewn' (don't ask me for explanations, I haven't understood it myself.)

But to tell the truth, I cannot see many women going ga-ga over those Lobb shoes.

No idea how those Massaro shoes are made.
