Ticket pocket ok for interview?

There is great wisdom in this reply. I am always of the school of thought that if they have enough knowlege to notice a ticket pocket they are more likely to be impressed than hold it against you.

I don't much like ticket pockets on typical business suits, although I do like them on many odd jackets.

That said, I am of the school that very few interviewers will even notice and fewer yet will even give a damn one way or the other.

A lot of answers to questions like these in the fora seem to presuppose that all men are as preoccupied with the minutiae of menswear as we are!

And as an interviewer, even if I was pre-occupied with men's wear minutiae, I'd be paying more attention to rioni's responses to my questions, his references and his CV. If he interviewed very well, I'd probably even forgive an overly flamboyant tie, loud shoes or badly chosen pocket square.

All things being equal, if you have two perfectly good interview suits, and one has a ticket pocket and the other does not, wear the one that doesn't.

If you don't, then don't worry about the ticket pocket.

No contest there. Wear the RLPL. I think that ticket pockets are great, and every one of my suits has one. I've never thought twice about wearing it to an interview.

I don't think anyone would stoop so low as to hire someone with a ticket pocket but you never know. I'd write an email in advance saying you're sorry but you're going to be wearing a ticket pocket and begging for forgiveness. Try to bring a gift to the interview, like a fish wrapped in newspaper or maybe a strand of your hair, this might help your potential employer get over this grave ticket pocket insult.

I used to be paranoid about going to job interviews but I've found that any competent interview panel will be too busy writing/asking questions to pick out any imperfections in your appearance.

Personally if i wouldnt think anything of it if i were interviewing someone.

Most people arent as obsessed with their clothes as us maniacs.

In the Professional selling class i'm taking, we've had guest speakers come in, most of them making 6 digits and some over $250k/year.

And they include with their speech, interviewing tips, among those tips are for men....overdress for an interview.
Not outlandishly, but just sharply.

This is well put also. It's very difficult to ascertain a man's knowledge of clothes because they usually wont discuss it with each other. But if they like clothes, theyll admire your detailing (assuming you are well put together) and if they dont care about clothes, how on earth will they think to themselves, "Damned ticket pocket wearer"?

No one will even notice - and if someone were to they would assume it came with the suit and that you had little choice.

Frankly it is a nonsense to even be worried - the answers here simply amaze me.

If they don't care to much about clothes they won't even notice it. If they care about clothes they will notice it and be impressed. Wear you RL suit!
