Yes, the blue ones are nice. South Willard has the Quoddys in blue. At double the price of Sperry's, they don't really look all that different. I'm sure Quoddys will age much nicer though.

What's the deal with sizing on Quoddys? Are they true to size?

I live near O'Connells and have handled the quoddy's in person and they are indeed a lot nicer than sperry. They just have this tangible rustic handmade quality, whereas sperry's look like they rolled off the automated assembly line.

That being said, don't by the SW quoddy's if you're a size 8.. unless you want to give them away.

Huh? Please clarify. I happen to be a size 8.

Don't forget about Timberlands and Johnson & Murphy's. Both make really nice boat shoes.

^^ i like them a lot, but once you're set on something else, you won't be as happy with the alternate.

Good thing I don't have either one lol. I'm not a fan of the brown ones in the thread though.

Q's run true to size, as do Sperry. Size your quoddys exactly as you would topsiders. and the quoddys do have a more artisanal quality and a richer color.

I've never owned a pair of boat shoes either... Are there any that aren't so "clunky?" Are there any brands that make lightweight ones? Sperrys look kind of heavy...

my wife is into it, but i',m not feeling the boat-shoe resurgence. i think they'd look odd with tapered jeans and with straight or bootcut, i fear i'd risk looking like a 45 year old yuppy dad like those i take the train with.

I've always liked boat shoes but never got myself a pair, I'm going on a couple summer/boat vacations, and I think I may pick up those quoddy's... I like how they look

You might try the John Varvatos Beekman's. They are however rather expensive for boat shoes, coming in at ~$200.

J.Crew is also offering their washed sperry's again, which have the same tumbled vintage look as the varvatos ones.
