I just recieved an e-mail about the fall '07 line. It appears the designers have been listening to the popular view from previous TB, SF threads. I think they took it too far...

Z Zegna is a diffusion line that is aiming to get a younger and more contemporary customer in his 20s so that in is 30-40s he'll buy Zegna.

It's like the D&G to Dolce & Gabbana.

Are 30-40s buying Thom Browne? Honest question here, I did not think that was his target.

I've seen 20-40s in Thom Browne.

But...what does that have to do with Z Zegna's fall line?

Just making sure my comparison was relevant. I allready misspelled his name and did not state "Z Zegna", so I didn't want to completely screw up the comparison.

I imagine this Thomey Browney fashion is only in NYC

I've never seen anybody wearing too-short clothes in Europe....

I think TB style is a rebellion against the american propensity to wear too long/big clothes. I think europeans in general don't do that so there is nothing to rebel against.

I guess you're right

But don't be so sure... Europeans are slowly but surely getting corrupted by the "casual clothing for confort" thing... and with the expansion of fast food chains they are also getting fatter...

Europeans already are fatter. Contrary to this modern myth that only Americans have bigger waistlines, a recent EU study reported that up to 40 per cent of Europeans are overweight or obese.

At any rate, Z Zegna certainly went for a certain look.

I recently read that obesity is the largest health problem facing Australian and British youth today.

It is beginning to look like a global "white boy" health issue.

What I said doesn't have anything to do with body size it has to do with the clothes in relation to your body size. Thin guys in america still wear clothes that are too big. Fat americans can get a euro look if they wear clothes that fit; they don't.

Yes, my comment was on the slow following of the american trends by europeans... not necesarily about fatness

...you are kidding, are you? Been in Mantova and Brescia last weekend and have rarely seen so many really short trousers (Thom-Brown-short!) on the street save for some mod-runs in Rimini...
