I've been trying to get some help on this. I've read up and learned that most Dunhill suits were made by either Zegna or Raffaele Caruso, but I still can't really find a tag that matches. Are any of you familiar whether or not this Alfred Dunhill was made by Zegna? If not, is anyone familiar whether or not it is a diffusion line?

Dunhill is still made by Zegna. I've seen both fused and canvassed models.

That said, Caruso also made recent pieces.

Is your jacket fused or canvassed? That tag doesn't look like Zegna's or Caruso's.

I'm pretty sure its half canvassed but I'm not certain. Below the bottom button is just the outside layers of fabric. Above the top button the inside fabric is one layer like on the sleeves but the outer layer is fairly thick...there is definitely another layer of fabric there that it would separate from without much effort. I'm not certain whether that means it is half canvassed or the top half is fused with glue [not sure how easily a glued layer would separate]...I feel like my gut is saying its fused...kind of conflicted. It feels quite different than when I pinch my ISAIA garments. Usually the center layer is pretty free from the others in other jackets I've had my hands on.

That jacket was absolutely not made by Zegna

Thanks I appreciate it. I was fairly certain it wasn't, and the lady at Dunhill in NYC had zero idea about it too.

Is there a way to tell the date from this?

This is the 2nd most recent tag (2008-14, I believe). I lack the skill to decipher any further than that for a specific date

    I'd say mid 00's

They had the black "Z" right before they started with the plain black (no white threads) zegna logo.

Here's the one that came after.

Many thanks! I thought it might be newer as the coat is perfect. Must have sat in someone's closet with minimal use.

Do you have any pictures of the manufacturer's tags? That may help identify more precisely.

That's an older tag. They phased out the Roma fit a while ago.

Yeah, I knew the suits were phased out but I never knew they made overcoats in Roma fit. I never actually looked at the tag until today. [IMG]

    Fits like a 42.

And for those wondering: They replaced the Roma fit with Torino. Torino is pretty much identical to Roma, but with more roping and slimmer cut.

I have one Roma and Milano suit from the last season they carried Roma, and they are actually identical.

How is the quality of the fabric/suit with a MULTISEASON label on it?

Someone asked about it but didn't get a response.

    Hi,

Got an opportunity to buy a Z Zegna suit for a good price (approx 250$), can any additional information (besides size. drop and material) be extracted from the label - like date, fused/half canvassed/other?

    Many thanks in advance.
