I saw a nice looking Zegna shirt on ebay for a really low price, so I bet a few bucks above the minimum and wound up winning it. After closer inspection of the description, however, it says it is a cotton/polyester blend. Does Zegna even make that type of shirt? I checked the website and found cotton/linen blends, but nothing with polyester. I think I got hosed, but I think I paid less than $20.00 for it, and the pictures looked nice.

What does the label look like? Z Zegna, or Emernegildo Zegna (we'll consider that for $20 it can't be the napoli coutoure)? I wouldn't put it past the Z line to have a cotton/polyster blend.

I just sold a Zegna sweater on eBay that was a cotton/polyester blend, so they do use polyester in some items.

Oddly Zegna clothing (shirts, ties, etc..) on ebay are always greatly reduced from it's original price (new or used). You can always find some really good prices on Zegna stuff if you look consistantly. Generally with Zegna, their clothes are fairly well made, and you can't go wrong with several of the prices you see on ebay... I have seen a couple other shirts that have incorporated polyester as a material.

I'd suggest you take some pictures of the relevant labels (including care label) and constructions (collar, gusset, cuff etc) and we can compare to authentic Zegna

Is this a dress or a sport shirt?

All the dress shirts I have seen have been of a premium fabric or blend (cotton, linen, silk), but I have seen some sport shirts and sweaters with nylon and polyester in the fabric.

I had an Ermengildo Zegna casual shirt (white label) that was 100% polyester. Nice shirt, much nicer than you would expect although the fused collar eventually bubbled.

Shirt arrived. Was described as 50/50 cotton/polyster blend. Actually 60/40 HEMP/cotton blend. With apologies to all the potheads out there, hemp sucks as a clothing fabric. Way too stiff and scratchy and ill-suited to my iron-free lifestyle.
