Gents,

What are the thoughts of this potential purchase. A Z Zegna suit that retails for $1,200 but is marked down to $500. The pants fit a little weird and I would like for them to be slimmer fitting around the thighs so it will require some tailoring probably $80-$100. How is the quality of their suits for that price?

If they are not perfect, I would suggest you pass on them. Z Zegna quality is average, you can do better for $500. Check out the B&S forum, much nicer suits available there for the money.

Z Zegna are in the quality zone of Boss. $500 is quite expensive for them. For that suit and that price, anything less than perfect is a dealbreaker.

$500 for ZZegna is a decent price only if the shite fits like a glove and no alterations required.

Where!?!?! I love Zegna but they are in the upward thousands..

Thanks for all the replies gents. I've made the mistake of buying a some average quality suits in the past and want to move forward and buy quality products.

For those, like me, that have no interest in buying used or even new clothes that aren't from a regular retailer, you won't do that much better and it is a decent price. I would say it depends on the material though, I've had some ZZ suits made of material on par with mainline Zegna suits and some where the material simply wasn't at the same level.

I found a mainline Zegna NWT for $700. Best deal I ever found.

Quite sensible comment. With the choices out there, we have several degrees of freedom. Limit to few options only when your body shape/physique do not tolerate certain designs.

ZZegna actually fits me well so regardless of how great mainline is I'm more interested in Z. $500 for a new Z suit seems decent to me as I've seen a few sport coats around $300 at outlets. If you are more average fit then you can probably find something "better".

The problem is it fits very weird. I feel like the pants and jacket just weren't constructed properly and it would require a lot of tailoring... So I am gonna pass based of what y'all are saying about quality.
