Hey SFers,

I was wondering a jacket I can purchase that I can wear over a suit on a chilly Fall day thats too warm for a pea coat or overcoat that is youthful looking (early 20's) yet classic. Also which color would be most versatile with either navy or grey suits?

Thank you !

Something like a Barbour, or one of the Belstaff's J. Crew has these days?

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but it's basically your same question so maybe it can work out for both of us. I'm looking for something youthful for the Fall as well. Ideally I was thinking a cropped cotton DB peacoat in khaki/tan or even Charcoal. I managed to spot something exactly like that on TopMan's website, but only in black (I hate wearing black). Any thoughts on this one? Recommendations?

Both of you. What is your budget? Can't be of any help if you dont know of a price range.

May I suggest an orange coat. :-D Orange is really in this season in Europe.

I will actually answer this question and resist my urge to be a sarcastic ass as you seem genuinely curious. I'm probably around the same age as both of you wear my mid-navy macintosh almost every day in fall. Since i am in the Northeast, it gives me rain protection and is classically styled so it has lasted me a few years now.

Other options: mid-thigh trench coat, cotton pea-coat.

I don't see how it's pathetic.. perhaps it should've been in Streetwear, but nonetheless the question was asked. I am looking for a lightweight fall jacket, but I just don't see myself wearing a full-length trenchcoat right now. I have a Brooks brothers peacoat that will hold me over in the winter, but I need something to transition for a month or two.

And to answer your question kohelet, I would probably be willing to spend up to 300-400 depending on the quality. Been spending a whole lot this year, lookin to get something affordable.

oy vey... Remember to use coupon codes if you are going to buy online. And just so you know I am near your age range so I tried to find north east coast style. The weather over here is pretty fickle. have hunting for your lightweight jacket.
