Always unbuttoned when sitting down, but when I need to get up to grab something, I'm not going to button the jacket. I do button it when I know that I won't immediately sit down again.

Buttoned when standing. Unbuttoned when seated.

What's the point wearing a suit if you don't button it? An unbuttoned suit whilst standing or on the move always looks unkempt to me. I even hate it when the lower button on a 2-button jacket is undone. Yuk.

Buttoning all the buttons on a jacket looks yuk to me ... except single button jackets of course ...

Exactly! Like wearing a tie that is loosened, pointless.

no buttoning the bottom button.

perhaps it's just me, but i always think a buttoned suit with no tie looks exactly as it is: something is missing.

The rule is that you always wear it buttoned when standing and can undo the buttons when sitting, to releave the pressure on them.

In an interview, Tom Ford said he goes around at parties and buttons guys jackets, because, buttoning the jacket is the easiest way for a man to look good and trim.
