I used to love pants with an extended tab, hook and button closure but now I seem to have an affection for the extended double hook closure. In fact, I have all my pants tailored that way. I just feel non-extended waistbands look awful when worn without a belt. What about you?

I have a few of both...for odd trousers its extended...hook and button, for suits I prefer the cleaner look of the hook and hook.

One time I didn't be specific and my tailor gave me button and hook. There's no visual difference from the outside but well, I thought hook and hook was the only thing back then.

A single hook. I see no reason to have to unhook and unbutton so many things.

I like the extended tab, I see your point about wearing them with belts but I wear braces and it is a much more flattering look for them.

I prefer the double hook extended tab without the button. When I unbutton my suit jacket I don't want any buttons to be visible on the trousers.

Is there any compelling reason for extended tab with button? If you're not wearing a belt, it doesn't look good because it's not symmetrical, but if you are wearing a belt then it's not visible at all, so what's the point?

I say extended tab with two hooks, always.
