Your preferred trouser material/color against this jacket

I'm having this made up now. A simple two-button, 3 patch. This is meant to be a go-to jacket for fall/winter... Fridays at the office, jeans on the weekend.Occasionally a tie but mostly with open BD's etc.

Suggestions please on trouser materials against this? Specific cloth recommendations would be great. I'm generally not a fan of cords though I could see a chunkier, less-fine wale in autumn tones with this.

Light gray flannel, mid gray flannel, mid gray whipcord. I am doubting brown would work but I'd have to see it. Taupe or stone might work.

Thanks,

I'm glad to hear you think light gray flannel would work. I'm planning on having a pair made but holding a couple of H&S swatches against this I was less convinced.

And to be clear the colors are green and blue; looking on my iPhone the ground comes across as more brown, whichbit is not.

I would go with a similar material for the pants and for the color something in a dark grey or charcoal would work best, you could also go with a navy or something as well.

Off the bat, I would say mid to pale grey flannel and cavalry twill in anything shade between mid brown and cream. In any event, I would go with trousers that are obviously lighter in shade than the coat.

I second the cavalry twill in mid brown to cream suggestion.

Post pictures when finished, the cloth looks lovely.

Definately brown. Cream/beige will do fine.

+1 to the grey suggestions. Would probably think some sort of cream would work, as well, but it would have to be on the darker side of the "cream" spectrum. I'm trying to picture stone working with this jacket in my mind's eye, and for some reason, I just can't. It's one of those "I'd have to see it in person" judgment calls. I could just see it going either way: working well, or clashing via too much contrast.

I would say that just about any earthtone would work. I'm not sure I'm seeing the gray as much, though a lighter one could work. I'm not at all feeling the charcoal or black ideas though.

I looked and could not locate the Scabal book the sample is from but I have a very muted celery green/grey flannel that I will match up when I find the book. If it works, can send you a swatch. I see moleskin trousers with this jacket too.
