Your opinion please: Omega Railmaster XXL

I like the watch, but cant find it in houston, so buying sight unseen is tough. What are your opinions on this rather large dress watch?

it's not a dress watch, and it is very large. saw it in the store yesterday and it scared me.

It is very large. You need to be a very big guy to get away with it as a dress watch. That being said, small wristed guys wear things like the Portugese. I would maybe look at the Aqua Terra from omega, which is a similar aesthetic but a smidgen smaller. i think when you get above 42mm for a dress watch (and the purists would say about 36-38mm), that you are in clown territory.

I like the fact that its conservative in its complications and aesthetic but makes a statement in size. I appreciate your opinions, but it seems like a no go so far.
I am 6 1, 220, with 7.5" wrist so a larger guy.

I regularly wear large watches (Panerai, IWC Big Pilot) but that Omega just looks wrong.
The proportions seem off as it's relatively thin for how wide it is.
It's definitely not a dress watch.

Do not by this (or any watch) site unseen. I've tried it on and it's way too BIG. I have a rather thin wrist and anything over 40mm does not work as a dress watch for me. Try it before you buy it.

I prefer this mid-size Railmaster. Comparable to the Rolex Explorer I, but 1/3 the price and nicer and more comfortable bracelet. The coaxial movement is a step above other automatics IMO. It's a sports watch on the bracelet and a dress watch as shown here on a strap.

I admired the aesthetics of this watch for a couple of years now. I do prefer the 42mm version though.

The dial/strap/case is beautiful. The size looks odd when worn. The standard Railmaster looks just fine to my eye.

The Railmaster is a classic design, both in 39mm and 41mm versions. The 49mm version is horrendous, however.

Yeah, I'm the same size as you give or take (6'3", 220s) and I have an Omega AT which is pretty similar but smaller. I say 49mm is too large, I'd be careful going much over 42mm (maybe 45 for the weekend, I love that Omega PO chrono)
