I am ordering a few suits to be made for me but I have been out of the loop for a bit and have forgotten a lot of things on how each fabric is and their pros and cons of them. To make matters worst due to work I can leave and go see my tailor personally but he has made me suits in the past with just my measurements and they all fit me perfectly.

So I work in the financial industry and I'm going for a modern look. The fabrics that my tailor has all come from here: http://www.vitalebarberiscanonico.com/fabrics

On the site they are a few sharkskin color suits but I believe those are out dated now. Which fabrics would you guys pick out? I'm getting 5 suits made. The first two I want navy and gray (not sure if it should be charcoal or light gray) and I was thinking one of them the cashmere/wool fabric ( http://www.vitalebarberiscanonico.com/fabrics/suits/310/wool-and-cashmere-revenge#vbc).

TL;DR: I'm getting 5 suits made. Work in the financial industry. Which fabrics would you pick?

As you said, you're ordering 5. Beside your choice of the traditional and risk-adverse navy and gray (charcoal), we advise
  • dark grey herringbone
  • classic stripes revenge in grey
  • wool / cashmere revenge is a nice wildcard

You may want to invest in some slightly flamboyant accessories since you're obligated to wear such conservative-colored suits.

Enjoy!

thank you very much! The only thing is that I don't know which charcoal and navy suit to pick. Do you have any input for those?

The other 3 that you have mentioned I like a lot and I will be getting them.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
