I prefer Bulgari, Etro, and Charvet. However I also have a penchant for Versace Couture ties in their Baroque forms.

Ralph Lauren Purple Lable: I love the thickness and the subtle patterns and designs. They are also tend to be narrower which I like as well

Robert Talbot Best of Class: Same as the above, but with a thicker tie width.

I cannot stand Hermes or Ferragamo ties, while very nice in their styling, the corporate world has ruined their image by association.

My favorites are Borrelli and Marinella, both of which use beautiful, high-quality silks and offer tasteful (but not boring) designs.

I also like Canali's woven ties, which are really thick and tie a great knot. It seems like Zegna has been selling more thick woven ties lately as well.

Yeah, the Borrelli "store" is pretty freaking small. But, they literally had ties lining the walls. I'll tell you this -- the Borrelli store in Palm Beach, though small, beats the socks off any Borrelli space I've seen in Boston's high end department stores. Really painful those price tags though -- after living in the land of the original Filene's basement for 3 years, how in the hell could I justify spending $200 on a single tie?

I find the superposition of the woven paisley and the metered rep stripes really interesting, and the paisley seems to be really well detailed (although it's hard to tell just from pictures.) I especially like the orange/yellow/red one. Very warm, rich colors.

i think zegna and dunhill are excellent value
i was disappointed with hermes, attolini and pink

Its really nicer in real life as the pictures never do ties like this justice. I sent one to a customer in Atlanta and he was in love.

I also put the Olive with the yellow background stipe together with a Beige suit, yellow shirt and it looked stunning.

acole, Since you like substantial,vibrantly colored ties,here's a close up shot of a Duchamp,from tiedeals.com,who have some of the better prices I've seen on that line.

That particular Duchamp might be too "vibrant" even for me, Mitch. Â I do have this one in my closet however (a recent eBay snag):
