1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

The American alligator is not endangered. And do you seriously believe that high end shoes, wallets, belts etc are made from the skins of endangered crocodiles? The makers are not going to bother with illegal hides, there is plenty of legally acquired skins available.

There are certain import/export restrictions on protected species, of which American alligator may be one. I for one had to sign some CITES thing when I bought an alligator watchband at Hermes in Paris (pre-defection). However, ebay is simply idiotic. I would advise you to list all your items in China -- they clearly don't give a damn that as far as I can tell 99.999% of the items listed there are (bad) fakes or outright fraud schemes.

Although the American alligator is secure, some related animals (such as several species of crocodiles and caimans) are still in trouble. For this reason, the Fish and Wildlife Service still regulates the legal trade in alligator skins, or products made from them, in order to protect endangered crocodile and caiman species with skin that is similar in appearance.

This is true now, but there was a time (early to mid eighties if memory serves) that the AA was an endangered species. In one of the most successful reversals of all time, states to which the AA was indigenous (FL, LA, etc.) enacted and enforced extremely strict laws regarding the protections of the AA. Since that time, the population has fully rebounded in an incredibly short time period (apparently, alligators breed like rabbits). Now, people in Florida are finding them in their swimming pools on a regular basis.

My guess (and it's just a guess) is that the CA law was enacted as to alligators during their period of endangerment. The reason for the pending change in the law is most likely due to the fact that the AA is now off the list.

i agree ebay has gotten out of hand,i was suspended twice for a month for posting "counterfeit" items which were in fact dsquared clothing that i purchased at saks fifth avenue with tags.but there is this company in europe called protectveritas that deemed my items fake, and i lost alot of money as my bills came in, but i could not pay them because i was suspended from ebay.i have still not fully recovered .i e-mailed ebay to no avail they said to email protectveritas which i did with no response.it was totally irresponsible and wrong for ebay to suspend me without proof.of course "amazingly" they offer no phone service and their livechat operators are just a bunch of yesmen.it was a very frustrating experiance for me. i lost a lot of respect for ebay when i see clearly fake dsquared lacoste prada burberry etc. being flaunted as real from china with no restriction.
