Here is my "before" Styleforum shoes. I wear a suit or sportcoat/pants 6 days a week. The following picture shoes ALL of by business shoes:

And now, here is my current shoe rotation after browsing around here for several months:

Yes - that's my brand new Edward Green Inverness in Burgundy on the 888 last:

Thanks for the enlightenment all (yes - especially you, Aportnoy)

The presence of the shoe trees alone is a big improvement!

From the left:
Allen-Edmunds Colton in Chestnut, size 10 EEE (U.S.)
Charles Tyrwhitt calf semi-brogues (Loake 1880? Tweed 2?) in Chestnut, size 9 1/2 G (U.K.)
Edward Green Inverness Burgundy on the 888 last. Size 10 F (U.K.)
Charles Tyrwhitt calf semi-brogues in Black, size 9 1/2 G (U.K)
Allen-Edmonds Park Avenue in Black, size 10 EEE (U.S.)

And yes - I got lucky, and the Loakes and E-G all fit well.

I've got my Lexol, and Meltonian Creme in a distinct color for each shoe, and Kiwi polish in distinct colors as well. I now own horsehair brushes for the first time in my life also.

And what happened to those long-suffering, trusty, reliable, unselfish, uncomplaining, steadfast and loyal "before" shoes? Unceremoniously shipped off to the Sally Ann, I suppose.

I'm taking them to work. They'll get rainy day use - literally.

A truly fine collection jmatt! The Inverness is perfect, a great score from the EG sale. Wear them well and enjoy the journey.

Btw, be on the look out for the "the mother" of all shoe damage threads coming soon.

Thanks for the props, Aportnoy (and the rest)! Although looking at your recent announcement, I have been instantly humbled.

Based on your shoe budget alone, you're not hiring for any positions are you?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
