Yoox has gone bonkers of late, in the past their " new " collections' ( for YYPH,YYF/Limi Feu ) retail prices were roughly what you would pay in Conduit Street Sale ( 40% off ) a year ago so in the Yoox sale the prices became truly tempting indeed.

It's now asking, what, about £500 for a 7 year old Y's piece, albeit it being new?? That's insane! If I told you how much I bought that from Wire ( along with a SS00 reversible plaid shirt and SS06 white lace front shirt Runwsy Look ?? ) you will weep......

The selling point of that blazer is the cutaway, perfect for a short person like me, breaking up the proportions nicely. You can always wear it with Hakamas/skirts, looking rather Scottish ( oh, forgot you are off the Hakama bus lol, sorry )

well yeah i know the price because i almost got it :p

their pricing model is, as i understand, initially 50% of marked retail, regardless of season, because they get them from leftover stock retailers don't sell (how didn't this sell...)
you can see sometimes the retailer's tags attached as well, with price removed -- either scratched out or the sticker poorly pealed off. it's not always previous-season stuff, as we see with all the pitti stuff !
i think the fellow was a computer science or some engineering student who saw a good opportunity (this might just be me regurgitating common wisdumb)
good thing is the codes that keep coming out and get bigger % with each month, trick is timing the right % discount before someone else gets it

    :plain:

lol yeah i couldn't justify keeping if i'm not keeping it in the rotation often

Blanks' review is fucking weird. Almost no time is spent talking about the clothes. I usually like his writing, too.

Well, he came in a hurry, left in a hurry, no backstage talk if I remember rightly.

I don't know how you gave 'em up, they're so comfy and one of my favorite pieces of clothing (well, really one of my first really "nice" pieces, so maybe that makes the difference :D )

I don't think that this is a very good idea. I mean many men design clothes for women and vice versa. Does this mean that they can't "understand" the other sex and therefore design properly for it? I'm certain that men/women can and should make judgements about design as it pertains to the other sex, precisely because it comes from a different viewpoint.

That women's SS13 stuff is really great. I was personally stunned by so many of the pieces in it, so much poetry in the clothing...

On a practical note, how do you other hakama owners store your pants? I'm trying to find a way to keep the pleats looking good, but mine are a very soft fabric. I know I can iron them back in (says so on the tag, anyway?) but I'd like to avoid doing that too much.

use a steamer, i wouldn't press hot steel to the jersey cotton (isnt that what you have) ? hang it naturally with gentle clip hanger for trousers if you have that

oh no, I wouldn't iron directly on it, I'd do it through a damp towel (no steamer but it works i think :) ) I'll try clip hanging it, thanks

Perhaps I did not make myself clear ( in fact I have made myself clear by re-reading what I wrote ), I was not talking about the " male designers " for women's clothes. I was referring to us the consumers. For example I will listen to and respect my wife's comments on the YYPH SS13 collection but I'll make my own judgement, BY TRYING THE CLOTHES ON when they become available, thank you. I think I have made myself crystal clear now.

i don't think it is impossible men to judge women collections. if someone understand garment construction and have strong cultural references build in their brain, there is no reason the women not to listen to the men. i don't mean listen in terms of "you should buy this!!!". i mean some people can't judge themselves very well.

You put it well Kiko. I myself don't feel qualified to judge Yohji's Femme collections; I can, to a degree, by just looking at the pictures of course but his clothes have so much drape/volume/movement that pictures cannot convey fully. I swear what I saw last night looked quite different to the Runway shots taken from the Press location, even the colours were different.. The movement added a totally different dimension to the garments, hence like you said, wait for the video.

What I can't ( but my wife can ) do is put on the clothes and see how they hang, drape and wrap round a female figure. I'm sure a small % of his Femme clothes are bought by men, I'm also more inclined to think Yohji cares more how his Femme collections are received by his female customers who are ultimately his main Femme clientele.

On a totally different note, someone brought up the subject of the Hakamas losing their pleats. Mine are nearly completely gone....are yours 010 cotton jersey? I have a feeling the gabardine version retains the pleats better.

I figured since this was in line with Yohji's asthetic, and that you guys are always so helpful, I would ask it here.
Does anyone know where I can get a nice, mid range, white band/mandarin collar shirt? (to go with my Yohji trousers which should be on my doorstep soon [IMG])
I've looked at the ones from COS which are nice, but not quite what I want.

A yohji one would be ideal, if anyone has seen any floating around rakuten/y!jp.

I recently got one on deep discount. It's from the brand Gazarinni.. It's a tad tight on me. What size are you?

Also, what shot the cos do you not like? I think they would work fine but I ask no expert.
