Ben, I feel for you, but the best thing about buying from yoox is you can always order MULTIPLE sizes of the same pants and simply return the ones that don't fit. That's what I did if I was unsure about sizing ( gladly it's rare these days with YY since most sz 2 pants in Y's and YYPH are slightly big waist wise anyway ).

Don't know about your vision in fashion, but for me most times with Yohji clothing, what looks so wrong in the mirror somehow feels so right. And I don't just wear Yohji, I wear EA, CDG, MFG, Y-3 as well when I don't feel like homeless. It's about a different mindset, or some here keep saying " anti-fit ".

Back to purchasing stuff, there are > 2,500 YY items on Y! at any given time, just try getting a simple Tee for a few thou yen first and get the feel for this wonderful playground and I promise you won't look back.

To add, yoox did have its place for YY in the past. I bought the AW08 Handstitched Blazer, SS09 DR YY blazer, a superb AW09 Y's 15-pocket blazer that I so wanted in Conduit but couldn't justify the £1200 retail, the SS05 jeans and other bits for bargain prices.

However that was at least a year ago when I purchased YY there ( actually I confessed I bought a AW11 cherry knit for £380 but UK retail then was £1100 ) Something weird happened in the last few months ( when it changed its format ) that the prices are no longer as attractive and the collections/stocks are strange, like AW05 Y's Yohji Yamamoto Pitti Uomo stuff appearing suddenly and the audacity to charge obscene prices. Baffling to say the least.

Can anyway explain how to use summary shipping on rakuten global? I assume that it puts all your packages in one box (or something?) but the english translation when selection the options is really unclear. Thanks for any help!

David, I have a question for you. My memory may be playing tricks with me, but did you ever post a fit pic of the jacket below? I'm interested in it, but the seller hasn't specified if it's Y's or YYPH and I'm trying to work out which season it might be from. All I know is that it has the new sizing, and is 100% cotton. Because the pictures are so bad, I also can't tell those silver details are rows of buttons or holes with metal eyelets.

They're snap buttons so the bottom can be turned up. Basically the OG punkier version of the turn up jacket from aw11. This is YYPH from aw04. The black version wasn't presented on the runway but here's the same jacket in khak in a (different, I think) cotton fabrici:

Like others said, Y's can be cut pretty slim (and extremely big, depending) and this season (aw05 pitti uomo) was particularly slim in some pieces. However, sizing isn't consistent across the board when it comes to waist etc, so it's always a little risky to order without measurements. In those cases it's always better to go a size up - for pants that won't matter much anyway, just belt them and roll the hems. I generally take a 4 in pants but I have a pair of 3's from the same collection that fits quite big and I need to belt to stay up so it can be very hard to tell wtihout measurements unless you have some experience and are sure about certain cuts and seasons.

You could tell by the cut of the waist if they're meant to be worn on the natural waist, but my guess is not. This was more common earlier, 80/90's and for some cuts in the start of the 00's. They're probably just slim. At least you got your hands on some good gabardine now!

Asobu already answered your question but anyway I do not have that blazer, I have another coat version with the snapback in canvas type cotton in sz 2 ( not very oversized though ) and the snapfront coat I bought off Wire.Artist in Melton wool in sz 3 ( that one is normal oversized ) Both tremendous pieces. You should go for it.

PS. anyone having trouble loading YYPH AW04 Runway images off Vogue? I have been trying for nearly a month to no avail.....it's been problematic since they changed the viewing format :(

David, yeah it seems AW04 isn't loading. I've downloaded the photos from Vogue, if you'd like I can post them here. They're quite small though, the one asobu posted has better quality.

Great, thanks for that info Asobu. I think I'll go for it. Actually, the week has been great for my growing Yohji collection. I picked up a lovely YYPH long grey linen shirt with embroidery on the front (not sure what season), found a full Y's wool gab suit for $10 and, for the grand finale: received the "parachute" jacket in the post yesterday! I've been on the lookout for one in my size ever since I saw David's pics. It's an amazing piece in pictures, and even more so in the flesh. I'm particularly excited, because, a little while ago, I also picked up some trousers from the same collection, in the same fabric (101), and the two will match really well. I'll post pictures soon.

Yeah you need to go for that AW04, it definitely looks better than the AW11 iteration ( I've seen/handled in LN-CC ), more original.

I'm pleased the parachute blazer found a fan in you :) You have the exact same one? I say that because I've seen 2 parachutes on Y! in the past few weeks, one of which has a different fabric and strap configuration at the back......

Congrats, have to say the blazer looks better on you :) Are they the matching pants?

Also looks like Hide-San is back to his usual efficiency that you received yours and I've received my stuff. He needs our support on SZ when credit is due. He had some personal tragedy according to Faust.

Yes, it's the exact same one. I generally need a size 4, but in this case size 3 is perfect. It fits perfectly, a little bigger than I would wear in a normal suit jacket, but not too oversized, which I prefer in this case, because it's a more structured jacket. I noticed a variation of it on Y! as well. The one I saw on Y! was a size 2, and had one pair of connecting tabs up near the shoulders instead of the elbows like your version. Sounds like it might be the one you saw as well.

Also, I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but there's a size 2 zipper jacket on Y! at the moment. Too small for me unfortunately.

Dante sounds weird. Kiko its better. Arena magazine was really supportive with all Japanese designers at that time. The editorials are full with issey, yohji and comme. Sadly I don't have any free time to go through all issues and scan the stuff. If something pop-up while I'm doing my project research I would scan and share.
