The measurements are in, the fabric selected (stripe 176), the options chosen. It's now time for me to plug all of the information into the order form. Before I do, however, I have some pre-purchase questions. 1) The measurements are of my body. Should they instead be of my favorite shirt? 2) What are some recommended standard collar styles, heighths, and tie spaces? This is for a casual shirt that will never be worn with a tie. 3) The same for cuff styles and length. If I chose flow-back, does the length differ from a French cuff or single cuff? What are length recommendations for each. I'd very much appreciate any guidance. Ordering from Jantzen sure has a learning curve, but I'm hoping it's worth it. Thanks.

Measure your body for all measurements except sleeve measurement. For sleeve measurement, the best idea is to measure your favorite shirt, or simply to put the measurement down of what shirt you wear (i.e. put 34" if you wear a 16.5/34 shirt, etc.).

For collar height, 2 3/4" seems to be what most people here go with. I think that qualifies as "high" on the order form. For cuffs, I personally always go with the Jantzen standard, though I think many here probably get a little longer cuff to accomodate double buttons on the cuff. If you aren't going to wear the shirt with a tie, I'd go with the double button barrell, as opposed to french (flowback) cuffs.

A lot of people like the P15 collar. I've never tried it. I go with the 4 or 5 spread, or even the simi-spread. Collar points of 3" is the most popular here, IMO.

I like the #27 Full Spread collar. I also think johnny means 1 3/4" for the collar height.

When ordering double button barrell, I specify a cuff length of 3 1/4" and like the look.

It seems, in my experience, that Jantzen cuts the sleeves a little short. I wear a 34" sleeve in an OTR shirt but specify a 34 1/2" or 35" when ordering from Jantzen. Someone else might want to chime in on this...

In my case I submitted both sets of measurements, those of my body and those of a custom-made shirt, and the result in fit was very nice. Remember not to waste time with emails. If you want Ricky to get any message you have to speak to him in person. Despite my long wait and a tortuous postal journey, the shirts fit right the first time. To my mind, the greatest challenges are selecting fabrics you like and waiting for the shirts. If someone wanted to make an on-line visual library of various shirts, I would participate. But Ricky's photos really do not represent the fabrics well, in my opinion.
