Who is a yelper? After Get Smart introduced me to this site (www.yelp.com) I have become addicted to it and have tried alot more places with my wife for eateries than ever before. We've become alot more adventurous in our eating expenditures and whereabouts because of the info on yelp.

Anyone else?

Lish is too independent. Conne is easier to boss around and make him do stuff for me.

This reminds me of a recent experience at a newly opened restaurant/bar near my place. I went there with my gf and a friend for some brunch on a Saturday morning. They have fantastic prices for a very generous brunch menu. Since we were planning to go somewhere else afterward, I brought my DSLR camera with me. I took some pictures outside of the restaurant and then went inside. The host guy, who was also the bartender (and I suspect a part-owner) saw me outside. After we were seated, we served in a lickity split. For the rest of the time there, we got the most attentive service that I can remember in a long time. The bloody mary packed an extra punch, too.

My conclusion was that he must've thought that I'm one of those bloggers or yelpers. For a hip, new restaurant, these web sites can break or make it.

I know timpoblete in the Streetwear and Denim forum posts lots of reviews on yelp for the San Fransisco area.

Which is why chefs and owners ******* hate foodie bloggers.

If the food is good and the service is decent, what do they have to worry about? They shouldn't treat food critics any differently than their regular customers. If I have a positive experience at a restaurant (and I'm not that particularly picky), I'll post something nice about it on Yelp. This is done mostly so that I can remember the restaurant later on when I'm looking for something to eat. On the other hand, I want to make sure I don't go back to a restaurant that I had bad food/service there. With the thousands of restaurants in the NYC area, Yelp is the easiest way for me to keep track of what I liked or didn't like.
