1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

@imys can you describe the ordering process? Did you source the fabric, or leave it to Rob? Curious because I definitely have some stuff I'd love to have YHNT make up for me...

If memory serves, Rob gave me a basic rundown regarding cost, widths, etc, though I hadn't thought to run questions regarding sourcing by him.

    Hi @ericgereghty ,

I have an amazing relationship with Rob as I'm sure most followers of YHN do or will once they get their hands on one or multiple of Rob's ties. As for the ordering process, I just send Rob a PM and describe the colour, pattern, cloth, and look I'm going for/wanting to achieve with some background on formality of the event (i.e., reception, wedding, office work, conference, presentation, or just because I want to wear a tie). I usually leave the fabric up to him as he knows best as to what will work with the pattern/colour and season (i.e., silk/linen/cottons for the Spring/Summer, heavier cashmere/wools/blends for the Autumn/Winter, etc.). Other times, if I truly am particular about something I want, I tell him exactly what I'm looking for (i.e., silk or cashmere, 3-fold, 6-fold, 3" or 3.25" etc.). Otherwise, I leave it totally up to him and his crew. By now, he knows my tastes and looks, and as I mentioned previously I don't even think twice about leaving the rest up to him. On other occasions, I've sent him fabric (knowing that Rob and YHN uphold the highest standard in their fabrics) and we've sorted out the particulars via email. If there are colours/patterns that really cannot or are difficult to describe in words, we go back-and-forth with pictures. And unlike my last post, it really helps to have a proper camera and apply the appropriate filters to capture the true colour (to avoid any miscommunication); probably in natural sunlight.

Hopefully this helps. I'm sure Rob will be able to give you more detail when corresponding with him.

    Cheers,
    Imy

@imys pretty much nailed it down with that post. If there's something anyone wants that we don't offer, shoot me a pm or email and we'll get it sorted. We also are happy to do CMT where the customer send his/her own fabric. Of course if the fabric sent isn't suitable, we wouldn't go ahead without our input. Some fabrics just aren't cut out for neckwear and others I wouldn't feel comfortable about having our name on.

Rob, for a general rule of thumb, are there any fabrics you'd suggest folks shy away from for neckwear?

Sometimes REALLY thick stuff is no good and as a general rule of thumb anything that has any poly or stretch material isn't the best. Corduroy is also pretty poor to work with.

Offer Rob a kidney...the fresco is totally worth it.

Kidding aside, I hope Rob can wrangle some, or something similar, up for you. It really is a stunning tie.

I wish I could....the Fresco is all gone. I don't even have one, but the Draper Stripe is excellent, and for me, made up even nicer. It doesn't have that paint brushed type color to it, but the stripes are so subtle and the drape is wonderful.

Just checked again with my maker, she has more of the Brown Fresco. Prob enough to get 3-4 six folds. If anyone would like to pre-order this (delivery in 6-8 weeks) and get it at the sale price, just pm me and I'll make it happen.

Good News: wearing the brown fresco, weather be damned (expected 99F lol)...absolutely stunning. Also perhaps the best YH knot I've seen yet...which is really saying something!

Bad News: phone decided to apparently give up the ghost, so no pictures quite yet. Sorry for the tease @imys
