Yeah .. I think ~$1000USD is going price for Borrelli suits. I guess, what I like to know is .. is this suit on a classic side or on a trend side? I like to have something that is more "timeless" design.

For an expensive suit, those buttonholes sure are lousy. Not good at all.

I prefer a keyhole buttonhole for everything except the lapel.

Another criterion for a good buttonhole is even stitching on the visible side, almost so good as to be mistaken for machine sewn, except when being examined from the back/non-visible side.

The Borrelli fails this test.

presuming its an exact fit, the style and fabric are gorgeous. However, the price is way too high for a pre-owned Borrelli. Heck at that price, you can afford to get a discount airline ticket to boston to go to Filines and get one there for $700-$800.

Regarding the versatility of this suit - I have a similar light gray with blue pinstripe, and I find that I can't wear it for business at all without exciting 'Goodfellas' comments.

I agree that one is too expensive but it is not pre-owned. It has tags and pants are not altered.

Hrm. Pre-cut buttonholes on a suit that I can't try on? I'd pass, but what do I know?

The eBay listing says 3 day money back on returns. I would spend up to $1,200-$1,400 since it is returnable. But only keep it at that price if the fit was amazing. Keep in mind that if the sleeve length isn't right they will have to take up the sleeve at the shoulder and that is more time consuming. ,Add hemming and a nip here and there you will be spending $200+ on tailoring.

As far as being "classic" or not I believe it is classic and as gdl203 points out versatile. It may not be a common fabric, i.e. a blue pinstripe, but the colors are basic and easy to coordinate. All your classic accessories and staples will go with it. I think it allows you to be a bit different in a "classic" manner.
