Yahoo molested my computer

Like a Catholic priest in an orphanage, Yahoo has taken it upon itself to unrelentingly ravish itself on my machine.

I installed Yahoo messenger, I turned off all the extraneous crap, but extraneous crap seems to reign supreme anyhow.

I not have a Yahoo toolbar (turned off), painful popups on startup (now turned off) dozens of Yahoo games and options in my start menu, shortcuts in my taskbar, a new ******* menu on the top of firefox between Bookmarks and Tools (now removed), and god knows what else.

How do I get rid of all this **** once and for all without manually disabling it one by one? As I said, I chose the install option without all the crap. All I wanted was the messenger. Wonder how much it would have installed if I said "please Yahoo give me your toys".

Other than random venting, this thread has no purpose, but let this be a warning to the rest of you....I normally use Trillian, but wanted to use the share pics thing (which is pretty cool) so installed the full messenger. It's not worth it.

If you are using WinXP have you tried to use an earlier restore point?

IIRC, you can go into the control panel and uninstall anything that has Yahoo on it except the Messenger. It's been a while since I used Yahoo. I use Trillian, which allows you to chat to all popular IM services.
