XBOX E74 error code, is the machine done?

Got this code on my kid's XBOX (one red ring), searching around I am getting everything from the machine being fried and done, to swapping out the wires to sending it in to Microsoft for $140 fix. Anyone here had this happen and what was your solution? Most likely just going to buy him a new one unless this is an easy fix.

Have you gone to the actual miscrosoft website? When I had a red ring (no ****) they fixed it in a week and for free. If I recall, you input your info and what is wrong with the xbox on the website and they will let you know what is going on.

Microsoft has always been pretty good about fixing these things. In the past i have had xbox's that crapped out and microsoft sent me a refurb for free. However they sent the same style and eventually the I would have another problem. If you do feel like going for a new one I would suggest that. The new xbox's are quite nice.
