From the 1930’s up to today, the pocket squares have remained as the symbol of sartorial aristocracy. Since the advent of the men’s lounge suit in the late nineteenth century, all traditionally tailored coats have featured an appropriately angled chest pocket not for cigarettes or a pair of reading glasses, but to display a bit of finish. Without some form of pocket embellishment, an outside breast pocket appears superfluous and the outfit incomplete.
