I agree with dragon8 and, as I walked past Chan's store last week looking for sushi, steered a friend of mine towards Armani MTM over Chan for that reason.

You can have a well-made suit but still be off in fit. Zegna has even and odd sizes so getting a good fit increases with those sizes.

Thanks for the suggestion. In the past I've found Minnis Fresco too rough to the touch, and I felt that way again today. I met with Patrick this morning, and in the end I wound up ordering the H&S Cape Horn High Twist in light grey. Price for a two piece suit from this book is $1445, so considerably less than my last suit which was made up in H&S Target Elite.

Patrick mentioned that this is a new book, along with the Zegna Cool Effect, Loro Piana Tasmanian and one from Scabal. My fuzzy recollection is that the Zegna was in the range of $1800, Scabal $2100, LP $2800 (I think).

I have to say I'm pretty tempted by the Zegna Cool Effect stuff, does anybody have a suit made up in it? Thoughts?

Patrick also pointed out that they've revamped their website, and are now selling Drake's ties and bespoke shirts online, including an option to enter your own measurements. Fabrics are limited to Thomas Mason and Acorn, with no detail about which book/line the fabrics are from, just weights. Prices appear to range from $147 to $212, I can't tell if that includes shipping though.

I am glad I skipped the March tour as my November tour order still has not shipped. Waiting over 4 months for delivery seems a bit extreme. Their email responses are useless as they send out a standard canned reply saying your order will be shipped next week over and over again. Time to give other travelling tailors some business... Gordon Yao will benefit from Chan's poor customer service.

Are you serious? I got a suit and 2 jackets from the November tour at the beginning of Feb. I got my stuff from the July tour in mid September. Also, I've found their email customer service to be quite good. Are you sure you haven't been dealing with some Chan imposters?

Gordon Yao is a solid choice and you will not be disappoointed.

you may want to email WW Chan about your order to see if it shipped. They may have shipped it to a different address as that happened to me but that person kindly rejected the item and it was returned to Chan. Chan uses an agent in teh US to ship to the customer so thngs can get confusing.

This is actually my 4th order from Chan, so I know how long their shipments usually take. In the past, they have been pretty good with the orders, though last year, one order took 3-1/2 months.

I have also ordered from Gordon Yao during his US tour and my recent order took only 2 months. I have found the quality of his work to be comparable with Chan's. So that is why I am considering giving more of my business to Gordon Yao.

2 months vs. >4 months is a big difference for me.

As I already mentioned in my earlier post, I have already sent several emails to Chan regarding the status of my order.

That sounds like a very annoying situation, hope you get it sorted out.

I'm curious about your experiences with Gordon Yao. I assume that in workmanship they are comparable to Chan, but what about their flexibility with respect to styling? One of the reasons why I'm comfortable with Chan is that due to the efforts of certain SF'ers (yfyf, Parker, etc), they have learned how to produce a SF-approved style (soft canvas, light padding, shirtsleeve shoulders, etc), even to the point where they now consider this pseudo-Neapolitan look as one of their house styles. Does Yao have this flexibility or does he only know how to execute the traditional HK/British style?

Yao's workmanship isn't comparable to Chan's in my limited experience. Chan's is arguably superior. Yao is also relatively inflexible in terms of style; that is, he has his notion of what looks good and will try to persuade you to agree. That said, I think the "house style" is generally attractive, but if choosing Yao, you should make sure ahead of time that your general tastes align with his.

Beside the buttonholes, I don't find Chan's workmanship any better than Yao.

No personal experience, but this gives you a sense.

For anyone that order from their March tour, did anyone not receive their order? I haven't received mines yet. I emailed them a few days ago and they haven't responded yet.
