Thanks...so much for a summer jacket! Although here in DC, the summer heat may very well still be in full swing in September.

Not "may very well" - it "will very well." Even the first couple of weeks of October can often be a steamy bitch.

VBC still seems a good price but everything else seems to have jumped

$1300 for VBC is still a pretty hefty jump. They were around $1,174 for VBC 110 and about $40 more for VBC 130 last summer.

Easier for me to get to HK than join the tour, but would be interested if any of you fellas go for seersucker from them and how it goes.
    cheers.

It was about $1200 last year.

Although Chan's prices for custom tailoring are still reasonable for the quality, I just can't see paying for custom tailoring for such an inherently cheap and flimsy fabric as seersucker.

Then just source it from Scabal. They will charge enough to make it feel like wool.

    What do Chan shirts run?

Are they MTM or full bespoke?

I had my first Chan shirt made in Hong Kong...at least in this case it is bespoke: The pattern and details were developed specifically for me and a paper pattern is kept on file...I had two fittings (one with a partially completed shirt plus a final fitting). During the tour Patrick checked and updated my measurements.

Cost for Super 120s T. Mason shirt is ~$170. In Hong Kong I paid ~$150 for the same...not sure if this was an annual price increase or if there is a tour premium. Certainly more expensive than many other shirt makers in Hong Kong, but so far I am happy with the product and it is still cheaper than the Brooks Brothers MTM shits I bought in the past at higher quality.

    Thoughtful feedback, thanks.

How does a visit with Chan work? Should I arrive early to look through the fabric books, or is that done during my appointment time?

The appointment is to reserve time to get measured and select details. You can take as much time before or after your appointment to browse the books and pick fabrics.

But there will be other clients if you go before or stay after your appointed time. It can get pretty crowded in there since the rooms are not that big.

Got it, thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be waiting in the hallway if I arrived 15 mins early.

In the Shanghai store, prices for basic VBC 130 have gone up by 1000 RMB (approx USD 150) from a base of 6240 RMB. So about a 15% increase. For Zegna, about the same in RMB, so a lower % increase.

Shirt prices also increased. Not sure by how much.
