What the hell is this utterly bizarre weather we are having? It just suddenly started snowing at around 19:00 on Sunday... Now it is supposed to snow on the mountains to the north of Tucson but NOT in the city itself

"OMG! Someone put this strange white crap on my car!"

I was surprised that not only did it not instantly melt, but it even piled on a bit.

Uh oh.

In the ten years or so I have been here in Tucson, only one other time have I seen snow actually stay instead of melt instantly.

I'm from the Canadian praires, where -30C and 2ft snow falls are just winter, and moved to the west coast, where 0C is cold and a 1" snow is diaster. We have recieved a fair amount and it even lasted for a week. I find snow to be great fun because people are absolute idoits; no one knows how to drive. I got 2 days off work due to snow. Never ever, no matter how thick the blizzard did I get a snow day in the Praires.

Same here. I'll be damned if I drive around with all these buffoons with the Expeditions and duallie pickup trucks having no idea about increased stopping distance and taking corners at reasonable speeds.

Like CoryB I too am from the canadian prairies, and moved to the west coast a few years ago for school. I find it fabulous how the whole city of Victoria shuts down as soon as an inch of snow falls.

Back home in Winnipeg we like to say that we have four seasons. Almost winter, winter, still winter and construction.

There was a great video on TV last night that some guy took from the top of his apartment in Portland, OR, of people driving down the street in his neighborhood. One guy bounced six times off cars and telephone poles before actually stopping by plowing into a row of parked cars.

Whodini, that's the video that I linked to in my post above. It's fantastic.

Ah, yes. Great link. I've never seen anything like it, on video or in a pinball gallery.

All this is made even stranger considering that September entailed almost 100 F heat (seriously), then suddenly it snows. Today it is warm and sunny again.
