WTF did I buy - Red Cords?

OK, this is embarrassing but earlier this week while quite impaired on Toad Hollow Chardonnay I hit up the JAB on-line clearance sale. Although I found some decent work-a-day shirts and a few pairs of casual linen trousers I also bought a pair of red cords. I honestly don't remember buying them and have never thought to myself, "...if only I could find a cheap pair of red cords," but for some reason I included them in my order. For the past two days I placated myself with the hope that they were more burgundy than red but that hope was dashed today when the package came.

I can't imagine wearing red pants. I live in Texas and these may just get ****** kicked. Nevertheless, if anyone has a recommendation for what to wear these with I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise these may end up in the B/S forum as freebies.

Note to self...do not drink and shop.

EDIT: Thanks for the help...these are no longer available.

Return them, as there is no may about it. Wear them in Texas and you WILL get your ass kicked!

I have a pair of red cords (as in a pure red).

They're really fantastic in colder weather (so I can wear them with an overcoat or a trenchcoat in a basic colour, as well as a sweater and/or sportsjacket in another duller colour), but I also would be reluctant to wear them in a place like Texas.

I wore them with brown pebble-grain boots, a light blue thick cashmere cardigan, a white shirt, a tweed jacket and a silk scarf the other day. It looked decent.

Save them for a trip to Europe.

Apparently the chardonnay brought out the bold side of your fashion sense.

I'd better stay away from the bottle or I'll end up buying these.

The only place I could think of wearing them is at a Christmas party. Or in the Playboy Mansion. Yes, velvet pants in the Playboy Mansion... mmmm

Just keep the pants the only color in your ensemble, i.e. go with a navy or grey sweater/jacket, white shirt and dark brown shoes/belt. You'll be fine.

Well, I ran these by my wife and according to her these are not going to work. I don't always take her advice but I think these red pants need to be with a younger person. I will think it over during the weekend but if you think you can use these please let me know. The stated size is 35 x 31. I am willing to let these go at no cost since they only cost 10 bucks.

How do they fit? Can you sit down without them riding uncomfortably into your crotch? They sound like they're the right size for me, and I've already got a pair of red (burgundy fortunately) cords and haven't been attacked over them.

And the funny thing is you bought them from Joseph A. Bank. They probably made five pairs total, just so they could have that shot of color in the otherwise gray catalog.

Why don't you dye them? Throw them into some black or dark brown dye and you should end up with something wearable.
