About 3 months ago I bought some Alden chukka boots in brown suede on the Barrie Last and I love them. I wear them 3x a week (not back to back, treed when they're not worn), but for the last few wears they've been pretty uncomfortable on the heel. Today I looked inside and the lining on one side of the shoe is basically totally worn away and my foot is rubbing against the underside of the suede itself.

What is this? The shoes were always very comfortable, and is this a defect? If there's an issue, will Alden correct it? I called the store I bought them at today and they said they bring them by, but the guy didn't really sound like he thought he could do anything.

That's balls. I don't have experience with Alden's customer service, but enough experience with Aldens to say that it's unusual for that to happen.

Take them in. At the very least they should be able to recommend a decent cobbler who could fix it for you.

I might I don't even know how it could've happened. I'd think that if they were loose enough for my heel to be running, it'd hurt, and its on the side not in the back? I wore these hard too - 4-6 miles a day in walking, and just no pain or discomfort at all til now =/

Customer Service is like Human Resources.
Neither means what you think it means.
