I am interested in buying a plain silver tie clip from a forum member. I would prefer that it be new, and that it be more of a slider, i.e. it doesn't have those clipped teeth in the back that would press into a tie.

I know J. Press has one, and I might check it out this weekend, but I'd prefer not to pay $50 for something I'm going to use pretty much one or two weekends a year.

If anyone has one, send me a PM. Thanks!

That hammered clip is quite striking. I imagine with a plain tie, it would add a brilliant accent.

Can I ask (because I just don't know): is this one of those things that I can buy cheap? Is there going to be a big difference between a $20 or $30 clip and the $50 J. Press one?

Depends on how much silver you want, I'd imagine. You're probably not going to get a lot of heft -- or a very complex design -- at the $20 price point. But if you're looking for a simple, smallish accent, Treasured Finds is a reputable seller.
