Viberg hikers...........hiking

How do they actually work, say, vs. a pair of modern hiking boots? I've always wanted a pair of classic hikers from Danner, Paraboot, or some of the Italian/German brands, but was always unsure if they're more fashion than function at this point.

I wear a 44 (UK 10) in Nike, 43.5 in Vans slip-ons and 43 in Buttero Floyd boots that I believe we both have (I think you took a size 42 in them but I definitely couldn't have sized down from a 43). The shoes above are a size 4 and tbh are slightly too big. Fine when worn with thick socks, but for spring/summer when wearing thin socks I'm probably going to look at either adding an insole or replacing with a thicker one (the insoles in the shoes are removable, not sewn/glued in). I think a size 3 in the above would be spot-on, size wise, especially if a 42 in the Floyds works for you.

I really like them. These are great as a winter boot being insulated. I personally much prefer them to modern boots. I’ve had these three seasons and they are just now getting broken in and super comfortable with thick socks. Alternatively I have a pair of Zamberlan lightweight hikers I wear in the summer time. These are four seasons old and are starting to fall apart.
