I'd be curious to know too, but I think in order to keep that pared back style there's not much you can do without adding bulk and whatnot. I've never tried suprega but chuck lows, spalwart, vans, shoes like pottery are all pretty similar. Out of those Vans are the most comfortable but again, also the most bulk.

has anyone tried anatomica? their deck shoe looks pretty good though i'm generally wary of japanese shoes because of my dumb flat american foot. is price just because it's an import or is there an actual upgrade in materials?

Does anyone have suggestions for better constructed canvas sneakers? I love these but it’s to the point now that wearing them for a day can bother my feet / legs after since the sole has worn down so much. I want something I can beat up but will still be able to have some support after a few years. Not into the super white brand new pair every year.

I picked up a pair of Shoes Like Pottery a few months ago and am very happy with them so far.

it sounds like you're looking for a long lasting sole but also some support in their construction. a harder-wearing sole is often less comfortable, though i do hear that the Margom sole (like on CPs or Diemme sneakers) is long-lasting. I have minimal experience there. i hear the doek oxford might (miiight) have better canvas.

now, this may not directly answer your "better constructed" question, but here's where I'm at: my most recent solution is vans up a half or a full size + superfeet insoles, either the blue or green models. and this might be too diy for some but sometimes you can pull/tear the ****** footbed out of a worn pair of vans you've already got (or, on occasion, a new pair; my last ultracush footbed had no glue on it at all) and put in a superfeet liner as a replacement. i did a 6 mile mountain hike a few months back in a pair like that with pretty much no issue. those liners do a good job with support.
