Jamaican...just quit beating around the bush...post a pic of the gorgeous squared & chiseled bespoke Fosters oxford that they PROBABLY already made for you.

And don't post some depressing phone camera shot.

Personally, I would not do another oxford....Fritzl's implied comment is that a blucher/derby, would be a better alternative on a rounded toe last.

Fosters has a beautiful selection of derby's in their store and old catalog.

If you want to see derby boots on a rounded toe last, just PM Bengal-Stripe

The Foster square toe pictured is lovely, and that's what you should get. Don't get the garish bleached finish, though: let the shoes acquire their own patina through years of your own wear.

That is their own patina, those shoes got the bleached toes by being exposed to light and sunshine in the window for decades. Those sample shoes are at least fifty or more years old.

Admittedly, due to customer's requests, Foster has recreated that look on brand-new shoes using, bleaches and other chemicals. But not in this case: "It's the sun what did it!"

Mike, as for me I am not a massive fan of Derby style shoes... I did like Culverwood's though. I would get those one day God willing. Maybe some "Dover" style Norwegian Derby's like those on JK's site. One day. But not for now. Cap toe on a square or round? J

my credo is: choose the best maker in your opinion for what you have in mind to do. if somebody asks me: chisel or round. my answer is round. either oxford or derby. if somebody asks me, what i have in mind for myself: it's derby and button boots.

to be frank i dont think their is a contempory maker from london that makdes a nice round toe but the fosters sq2 toes linked is great so i would do that

not is the dude want a stitch cap vanilla cap toe in brown then great no issue thro i would refer a perf cap on brown and the plain with black but YMMV

Its interesting how Will used G&G for a bespoke rounded toe last...yet used Fosters for a squared and chiseled toe last. I would have thought of doing the exact opposite

But I agree with Luk-Cha as Fosters, Lobb and Cleverley have yet to make an exciting rounded toe last.

But a Budapester styled raised toe last kicks ass on a monk strap

michael, i do not recall that you ever liked a round toe. do you own one?

btw, the budapester, despite the raised toe box(shark mouth), is not a round toe in the common sense.

Thanks Jamaican. That Derby style was I think of Emiko's design and seemed to have elements of their Thomas Oxford shoe. I tried to like the Thomas but it just did not work for me and the sample of the "Emiko" shoe looked so good it was an easy choice. I do like JK's Norwegians and like you, one day. I still say round for a cap toe but that's just me.
