Hamilton, Seiko, Tissot, are all good ideas in that price range. I might also recommend a Poljot (manual-winding Russian made watches), or perhaps a Citizen. All of these brands have their supporters and offer a lot of different styles. Really it depends upon your personal style, your wrist size, what you will be using the watch for, whether you prefer bracelet styles or leather straps, etc. I have a Seiko Kinetic that I think does a pretty good job of straddling the business-to-casual line, and I also have an Invicta diver-style watch that I have found to be a decent piece for the money. Neither should be confused with a Rolex, or even a Tag or an Omega. If you have patience and a steady income, you might want to hold off awhile, scrape up a few more bucks and take a look at some vintage watches. One more word on wrist size: please buy something that looks like it fits on the end of your arm. Big guys need big watches, and smaller guys need smaller watches. Just a pet peeve of mine. Good luck with your search.
