This post is a slight edit of an email I actually sent to Hickey Freeman.

I have been a huge fan of the "hickey" product line for a while now and so I was very excited
to order a hickey shirt from the storefront on Amazon.com in order to test the waters for further purchases. I placed an order for a hickey freeman dress shirt as well as a Hickey Black plaid shirt:
http://www.amazon.com/Hickey-royal-d...ref=pd_ys_iyr1

I generally wear an XL with plenty of extra room. I enjoy a fitted cut to my shirts, but when I tried on my new Hickey shirt this morning I was extremely disappointed. The arms of the shirt are cut extremely tight. I cannot imagine how any man who has ever lifted a weight or played sports could fit into a shirt like this without feeling like he was the filling in a sausage. Though the shirt "fit" my body I also noticed an unpleasant pulling that appeared around the buttons on my chest. I can only say that this was a very disappointing experience.

I have been a huge fan of the design of the Hickey Style line of clothes and I have no problem with any of my Hickey Freeman clothes, but I now feel very very hesitant to order another shirt or any other items (I was considering ordering a sport coat as well). My only way of reconciling this experience is to say that your designers have gone completely overboard with a trend towards "slim fitted" items in the vein of Thom Browne. The sad thing is that although the fabric and design details of your clothes are very appealing, sadly the dimensions are apparently made for a man I can only imagine to have arms like twigs. I am not sure what I would suggest to remedy this situation, but I think the future I would consider I more realistic design to the arms and chest at the very least.

huh? I dont get the point of your complaint. So their shirts arent made for *you*, but they fit others perfectly fine. They arent even that slim, there are far slimmer shirts out there than Hickey.

It's like writing a letter to Metallica asking them to change their sound to Vampire Weekend

Sorry dude-- the sizing is whack. When I order an XL shirt, I expect it to fit someone who is a 46L-- that is what an XL shirt is. If I wanted a medium I would order a medium. Your metaphor is not accurate.

Had you read their sizing chart, you would have not had this expectation. Your fault or theirs?

for a guy who's been on this forum since 2002, you cant be serious in not knowing that every label has different interpretation of sizes???

I can wear anything from a size XS to a size L depending on brand

46 is an XL??? not if you go by conventional sizing

36=XS
38=S
40=M
42=L
44=XL
46=XXL

but yea most brands have fat guy sizing where everything is bigger than it should be. Not to be a dick but you seem to have been expecting Old Navy sizing on a brand that is targeting "fashion boys" who are into really slim fitting gear.

Ha-- I was not expecting to get any love in this forum. Having glanced in the WAYWT thread you two guys are teeny wheeny bean poles. You love this type of mini-painted on clothing. Sorry- I dislike it.

As I said-- if I wanted a medium I would order a medium. The issue was with the size of the arms which I just find absurd. I don't regularly measure my biceps before ordering a sportshirt-- if you do I guess you are their niche market...

Generalization much? I lift, run, and play sports, and the Hickey Small fits me perfectly.
The shirt doesn't fit you. Return in, and get over it. This has nothing to do with Hickey.

Dude. Ordering things sight unseen or having not tried on then ending up not 100% satisfied is not a once in a blue moon phenomenon.

Dude-- I by XL shirts from Hickey Freeman all the time, I was surprised to get such a radically different product from the same company. It's not "old navy" it's every other shirt I own-- Brooks Brothers, J Crew, Zegna, etc. Cut the name calling-- it's lame.

hickey is a completely different cut from Hickey Freeman. Its their younger, trendier, slimmer version.
