Title. Would you wear a beret in the summer? If so, what would you pair them with?

Just wondering why this french aesthetic is so scarcely seen. I just want to find out what are some of the possible connotations and perceptions people have about someone donning a beret on the streets as part of casual wear.

I usually pair my beret with a bold stripy shirt, cloves of garlic around my neck and a bicycle.

I think the US army is phasing out berets (for all but Special Forces??)

I thought it was good when they were introduced as they look better than camo caps and the ridiculous envelope hats that we British phased out after WW2, but unfortunately most US soldiers I see wear them shrunk down to look like a mini felt beanie perched on top of the bonce with a little peak flipped up to display their regiment badge. Looks bloody ridiculous. If you can't do it properly then don't do it at all, go back to your c**t caps.

Rant over!:)

I wear the beret almost all the time recently as a stylistic choice.

I usually pair it with a pixelated uniform and a M4A1.

When is the deadline for berets? Do you welcome the return of the cap or will you miss your beret? Do you wear yours 'properly' (a la Field Marshall Montgomery) or do you subscribe to the shrunken beanie look? I have a passing interest in military uniforms but I think the US has been scoring a series of 'own goals' recently!

Anyway, hope you stay out of harm's way.

Ryan, you may want to change the thread title.
The title reads 'Would you wear a beret?'
Your originating post reads 'Would you wear a beret in the summer?'
Which question are you asking?
