Suede shoes are good most of the time for casual or semi-formal wear. ~$500 for an Alden special case shoe is about average price, maybe a little high.

if it is whether suede is as costly as normal full grain calf... sure
whether it last as long.... yes, for as long as practical (note i dont and dont intend to hold on shoes for 10 years...)

I do not mind paying the same price for suede as calf leather. But I dress more on the business casual daily and wear suede shoes every 2 days.
I did not hesitate much to pay online almost 300 USD for a pair of Settantatre Brown suede lace-ups from VCH a few minutes ago, I know these will last and age very well.

I prefer the long wings as well. Just stumbled onto those from Epaulet and thought you might like a comparison.

Yes - you are going to look like a tool wearing either of these with a suit. IMO.

I'd stick with the 'snuff' color in your original post. Suede's one and only drawback is keeping them clean looking. Darker is better in this regard.
