After reading some of the posts in the favorite posters and NY Times anniversary threads I was wondering what I missed with some of the mentioned banned members.
Perhaps you missed the part about how they all hang out at FNB.com. You're free to go visit them over there whenever you like.

I voted for none. Call me a killjoy, but I've got little patience for those who view their participation in the forum as an opportunity for some vaguely situationist experiment.
    Ditto.

I bet that if you donated ooooooh say, $30,000... J might be inclined to open up secret squirrel for you.

I wouldn't say it was like Chuck E Cheese, its more like Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory. A magical fairy land of excised threads, guarded by digital Oompa Loompas that mix the chocolate by waterfall! Steve B used to be a republican, until that one fateful day he read the secret squirrel thread, and look what it did to him!
Keep it away from Bill, Chuck and Jill!!!!

Most of the threads there are too irritating to live, too entertaining to die. Just like Terrell Owens.

If you'd like, I'll send you a copy of mine [IMG]

I admit that I was a little reluctant to ban Vaclav, but he stepped over the line once to many (hear that Jon? It can happen), and that was that.

Josh over on the old Ask Andy forum was really a genius; I also enjoyed the posts of a certain Mike Vice.

The e***** (banned) lines that kennethpollock doles out from time to time are so wonderfully distilled that they really satisfy one's sporadic but intense cravings for Ernest.

Vaclav's devotion to the Trad was amusing because he was so offensive to most every other (i.e., non-sartorial) WASP-sensibility.

None. It's the mods' decision, and the moderation is too good here for there to be unrest in civil society. Anyway, I'm sure everyone has one former member who they would not want to see back (I do, and he's not on the list), and would therefore not want people campaigning for that very thing.

I also remembered MikeVice and the supposed manliness of his unconstructed white suits and pastel tees. He wouldn't have been so annoying if he hadn't been so adamant.
    Regards,
    Huntsman

Well said Huntsman. But that MikeVice bloke sounds rather, uhm, disconcerting [IMG]

StyleForum without Ernest is like Beverly Hillbillies without Jethro.

How would you know? He was banned nearly a year before you joined.

    No he wasn't.

I had to re-join after the board crashed.

Same here. I remember the last time Ernest -- oh sorry, "e***** (banned)" is the preferred way of referring to him -- was readmitted to SF. There was a "Haiku for Ernest" thread that was also, unfortunately, lost in the Great Crash of '06.

For anybody overcome with misty-eyed nostalgic longing for Ernest, just remember how his distracting and irrelevant posts dominated the Forum during his last brief tenure.
