What do you guys think of this Allen Edmonds Evanston Oxford?
rQnUC.jpg
I've been trying to find a decent-looking (and cheap) wingtip for a while, especially from AE, but due to my weird foot size (8.5 EEE), it's a pain trying to even find shoes that fit me =/ I want more of a casual shoe I can use without having to wear a suit+matching suit pants...maybe just dress shirts, jeans, with a sweater, or with a blazer and dress shirts, or even just a cardigan over a polo with some random slacks. Is this shoe close enough to a wingtip, or is it "too formal"? From what I understand this shoe is a "semi-brogue oxfords", which I think is just a 'tier' above a wingtip in terms of formality? Anyways...is this shoe good enough/casual enough to wear with 'casual smart' clothing for everyday wear? The link to the shoe is here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=1-104&seller= This is a picture of the back of the shoe...

I like them. I have some very similar Cheaneys, which are a heavy hitter in my rotation.

I would prefer the 5th Avenue in walnut, but these are fine.

Great looking shoe, definitely not too formal. If they have your 8.5EEE I wouldn't hesitate!

I would go for it. That's what I like about AE - EEE width and American made plus reasonable price. Lots of hate on here though.

I have seen this model going for sale (clearance?) and have been tempted to buy it. I like them, but I can't justify buying them. If you think they suit your casual/formal needs go for it.

BTW, can't you just size up to a 9 D or 9 E? I find people do this quite often, especially for AE's.

9D is too small; I have a pair of oxfords from Giorgio Armani that I wear and they are 9.5D. Looks nice, but it's like half an inch too long, or something :| My feet's pretty wide, heh. 8.5 EEE is just the perfect width for me, any smaller and I can't wear them. I'll give that 9E a try, can't believe I haven't tried doing that. The difference in length is pretty small, and I'll have more options for shoes to wear. Thanks

Yeah, it was the last shoe they had on Amazon, plus the person who wrote a review said that they're stopping production of this line of shoe this year, so I just bought it instantly since Amazon offered a 30 day return policy along w/ Amazon prime.

I vote this Most Uplifting Allen-Edmonds Thread of the Day.

I want everyone to look around so that each of you can envision exactly where you were at this very moment.

I wouldn't wear these shoes with jeans. A bulcher in a darker brown would be more versatile IMO.
