1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Just saw the trailer yesterday and it seems that child actors are going to play a big part which means I am staying away. Nothing ruins a horror movie more than precocious children.

    War of the Worlds redux?

Yeah, that Haley Joel Osment kid sure ruined The Sixth Sense, and don't even get me started on Linda Blair...

This whole thing looks like garbage. Trailers are doing nothing for me.

I'd be surprised if it's garbage, but I'm unsure why everyone's freaking out about the book. It was a cool premise and had a very good title, but otherwise it was also garbage.

^ Yes. The book was as dull as dishwater with maybe one or two interesting stories.

It sold because of the title and the idea that this was a worldwide event.

no, it sold well because people like zombies and it was better written than 99.99% of zombie novels.. and that's not saying much.

    it wasn't that bad

Sold as a movie as it seems they pretty much threw out the concept of the book.

The book: I kept waiting for something to happen. I kept waiting for someone to give a shit about.
    I waited for a good 300 pages.

Other than the zombie CGI looking a little unfinished, I cannot wait to watch this.

The poster looks epic, but when you see stuff like that in the trailer and zombies flow from area to area like a river of thick sewage, it just ruins it.

Are they competing with The Wolverine for the worst movie poster award? Garbage.

Movie looks fine, it's not going to be like the book but why would it? The average North American (target audience) attention span and ability to process what they're seeing doesn't allow for that many story lines and character development within one movie. That's just the way it is, the movie will still be good but going into it with the mindset that it will be like the book just sets you up for disappointment.

What would make more sense would be to make a TV show (think of the Walking Dead). There's just far too much happening in the book for it to be compressed into a movie.

I read elsewhere of having a tv series where each episode(s) would follow a different person from the book.
